Tobacco trader’s staff threatened with koyta, robbed of 47 lakh

Three teams have been formed to nab the accused and we are collecting CCTV camera footages as part of probe, say police

Two persons on bike intercepted an employee of a tobacco trader on motorcycle and robbed him of 47 lakh by brandishing koyta at Nana Peth on Thursday, said police officials.

The employee Mangal Puri Goswami of Panna Agency was on his way to deposit cash in a bank when the accused snatched his bag containing cash at around 11:45 am.

According to the police. Yogesh Ramesh Agrawal who runs the tobacco agency daily deposits cash collected from his Nana Peth shop to a bank. He deputed Mangal to deposit 47.26 lakh to the bank on Thursday.

When Mangal was on his way to deposit cash in a bank on his motorcycle, he was intercepted by the duo accused on bike. There was an exchange of words between them over rash driving before one of the accused snatched the bag containing cash. When Mangal tried to resist their attempt to rob him, one of the accused showed him a koyta and the duo fled with the bag.

A case has been registered at Samarth police station under Sections 394, 341, 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
