Two tourists from Goa killed as tempo collides with car near Lonavla’s Lion’s Point

Both passengers in the car died on the spot, while the tempo driver, critically injured, has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

Pune: Two tourists from Goa were killed and another injured early Saturday when a tempo rammed into a car near Lonavla’s popular tourist spot, Lion’s Point, in Maharashtra, police said.

Police said the collision took place around 6 am.

“The impact was so severe that the front portion of the car was completely crushed,” Inspector Dinesh Tayade of Lonavla Rural Police Station said.

Both passengers in the car died on the spot, while the tempo driver, critically injured, has been admitted to a hospital for treatment.

Police identified the deceased as Yohesh Sutar (21) and Mayur Vengurlekar (24), both residents of Mapusa in Goa.

Locals and tourists alerted police after hearing a loud crash. A team from Lonavla Rural Police and emergency services was deployed to the site.

Inspector Tayade said that relatives of the deceased are on their way.
