PUNE: Following Thursday’s cloudburst and resultant flash floods, the civic administration worked until late midnight to clear the waterlogged areas, resuming road-cleaning works early Friday morning.

Mayor Manjusha Nagpure and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) commissioner Naval Kishore Ram have been continuously monitoring the work.
“Our staff worked hard on Thursday night and Friday to clean the city. Waterlogging was cleared on Thursday night, and road and manhole cleaning began on Friday,” Ram said. “It is true that there were some gaps in responding immediately to the unseasonal rains.Later, however, we activated the machinery.”
The fire brigade cleared the roads of fallen trees and branches on Thursday evening, and corporation vehicles disposed of them on Friday morning.
Although the PMC managed to clear the water logging, the sludge that had collected around manholes had yet to be cleared in some areas till late evening of Friday.
