The VP Road police on Thursday, with the help of locals, arrested a person who allegedly robbed Rs4 lakh from an office boy in Bhuleshwar, after throwing chilli powder in his eyes.
The 44-year-old accused Sayyed Sharif Jalaluddin, who lives in the Agripada area knew Kishan Koli, 22. He kept a watch on Koli for several days before the incident.
According to the police, Koli works in a courier company. He collects cash from the clients and hands it over to his office, which is situated near Kabutar Khana in Bhuleshwar. The incident occurred around 6.30pm when Koli was returning to his office after collecting Rs4 lakh from one his clients.
When Koli was climbing his office building, Jalaluddin called him from behind and threw chilli powder in his eyes. He then snatched the bag of cash from Koli’s hand, said senior inspector Sanjay Kamble of VP Road police station. However, Koli raised an alarm and locals gathered to help him.
Jalaluddin was carrying a knife and threatened the crowd to stay away. Meanwhile, police who were patrolling the area reached the spot and with the help of people nabbed him, Kamble said.

{{/usCountry}}Koli and Jalaluddin were brought to the police station. The bag containing cash of Rs4 lakh and chilli powder were recovered from Jalaluddin. He was arrested under relevant sections of IPC.
Koli was rushed to hospital for treatment and his employer Uttam Prajapati was informed about the incident. “We have been questioning the accused to find out if he has committed any crime earlier,” said another official.
