Teens rape two minor girls in Ludhiana, held

Police have apprehended two 17-year-old boys for raping two minor girls after intruding into their house in New Ram Nagar of Mundian in the wee hours of Saturday.

Police have apprehended two 17-year-old boys for raping two minor girls after intruding into their house in New Ram Nagar of Mundian in the wee hours of Saturday.

The brother of one of the victims told the police that the boys raped his sister, 16, and their tenant’s daughter, 15.

He said on Friday night, they erroneously left the main door of the house open. As the two girls are friends, they were sleeping together on the first floor of the house.

In the middle of the night, the two boys sneaked into their house and raped the girls. As they raised the alarm, the duo fled the scene. Though the family members woke up on hearing the girls’ screams, the boys managed to escape in the dark.

They were arrested later on Saturday.

ASI Harbhajan Singh, in-charge, Mundian police post, said the boys were booked under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. They were presented before a court and sent to a local juvenile home.

A carpenter hired for a job at a couple’s house raped their domestic help in Focal Point on Friday morning.

The accused, identified as Sohail of Hargobind Nagar, was hired to repair the couple’s sofa set.

In her complaint, the victim said after assigning work to the carpenter, her employers left the house in her care. In the afternoon, when she went to the toilet, the accused followed her and raped her after overpowering her.

He then returned to complete the carpentry job. When her employers returned in the evening, she narrated the incident to the them, following which they called the police and handed over the accused to them.

Inspector Amandeep Singh Brar said Sohail was booked under Section 376 of the IPC.
