In two videos shared by them, the group members can be seen creating a commotion at a movie theatre while shouting 'Jai Shree Ram' even as some mall officials were seen trying to persuade them to stop.

Right-wing group Bajrang Dal’s Gujarat unit on Wednesday evening tweeted videos of a “protest” against actor Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone’s upcoming movie ‘Pathaan’, where they were seen destroying the posters of the movie at a mall in Ahmedabad.

In two videos shared by them via an unverified Twitter handle, the group members can be seen creating a commotion at a movie theatre while shouting 'Jai Shree Ram' even as some mall officials were seen trying to persuade them to stop. “Today in Karnavati Bajrangi washed #पठान, anti-Sanatan Dharma @iamsrk and Tukde gang @deepikapadukone movie will not be allowed to run now. Warned the multiplex, if the movie is released, #बजरंगदल will show its attitude. Bajrang Dal in honour of ‘Dharma’,” the group tweeted with the videos.

The second video shows them marching outside the mall as they abuse the actor and call for boycotting the movie. “Bajrang Dal Gujarat will not allow Pathaan to run in movie theatres anywhere,” the tweet further read.

Pathaan controversy

The controversy surrounds the movie's newly released song ‘Besharam Rang’. The song features Shah Rukh and Deepika romancing in Spain. Right-wing groups and some BJP leaders have demanded a ban on the film as they feel offended by the contents of the song.

The list includes Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra who earlier objected to Deepika's costume in the song and also frowned upon the colour of the outfits worn by both actors. The minister had said, "The costumes in the song at first glance are objectionable. It is clearly visible that the song of the film Pathaan has been shot with a dirty mindset. I don't think this is right, and I will tell the director and makers of the film to fix it."

Following the outrage, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has directed the filmmakers to implement a few “changes” in the film including the songs. The movie is scheduled to hit theatres on January 25.
