Once a man was stuck on his roof of his house during a flood while other people tried to escape the rising waters whichever way they could. But this man believed that he heard a message from god to wait there and he that would be rescued. That’s what he did. He waited and waited as the water rose higher and higher.

First his neighbours asked him to flee with them. He said, “No, I trust that god will come to rescue me.”

After another hour or so, the coast guard came and asked him to get on their boat. He was adamant and said, “No, I trust that god will come to rescue me.” Finally, as the water was about to engulf the house, rescuers came in a helicopter and said, “You must climb the ladder now to which he said, “No, I’m waiting for god to rescue me”. Sure enough, the floodwaters rose above the roof of his house and he drowned.

When he went to meet his maker, he asked why god did not rescue him. God said, “I came for you three times and you sent me away”.

So depend upon your own efforts and pray to god to help you succeed. Many things are wrought by prayer too, but not just by prayer. Your efforts are primary, prayers are secondary support.
