Former Zimbabwe skipper Andy Flower is likely to be appointed as the head coach of the Eng Cricket team. Currently serving as the interim coach, Flower is believed to have been interviewed by a panel chaired by managing director of the England team Hugh Morris last week.

Currently serving as the interim coach, Flower is believed to have been interviewed by a panel chaired by managing director of the England team Hugh Morris last week and is likely to bag a contract worth about 250,000 pound by Wednesday.

The 'Sunday Times' reported that Flower is the only man to have made Morris' "very short shortlist" that had some big names like Tom Moody, Gary Kirsten, Micky Arthur and Graham Ford.

As a team director, Flower will have his hands full as he would have to help in the team selection for the first Test against West Indies on May 6.

National selector Geoff Miller wants to complete the selection as soon as possible.

"Hugh Morris knows that I want to pick the initial Test squad by next Saturday and knows that the team director has got to be involved in picking that squad. The sooner we get this deal in situ the better. Time is tight," Miller said on Saturday.
