"All steps that are appropriate must be taken by the BCCI," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javdekar told reporters in New Delhi on Saturday.

Harbhajan has been banned for three Tests for allegedly racially abusing Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds. The BCCI has appealed against the ban and a hearing on the matter will be conducted soon.

Javdekar said Indians have been at receiving end of racial discrimination historically.

"We have been historically discriminated on racial line and our team being alleged on racial misconduct is one the worst things we could face," he said.
