Run machine Virat Kohli recently achieved a massive feat in the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Often dubbed as the greatest batter in the modern era of the game, former India skipper Kohli became the first batter in the history of IPL to complete 7,000 runs. The former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper is the all-time leading run-getter in the cash-rich league.

Kohli, who is in sublime form for Faf du Plessis and Co., is the only player to feature for a single franchise in 16 consecutive seasons of the world's richest T20 tournament. The RCB icon has smashed 6 half-centuries in the ongoing edition of the cash-rich league. However, the in-form RCB batter showcased a rare batting failure in Bangalore's away match against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2023 on Tuesday.

Sharing a noteworthy stat amid the IPL 2023, former India opener Aakash Chopra called out RCB for not showing faith in Indian batters except Kohli at the IPL. “Virat Kohli has scored 7000 runs for RCB. Then there’s not a single Indian batter with 1000 runs. In 16 years. A case of not investing enough in Indian batters except Kohli? Remember…half their games are at The Chinnaswamy… #TataIPL,” Chopra said in his tweet.

Kohli was dismissed for 1 off 4 balls in match No.54 of the IPL 2023 between RCB and MI at the Wankhede Stadium. Suryakumar Yadav's sublime knock of 83 off 35 balls sealed Mumbai's win over RCB at Wankhede. Talking more about the match, Chopra also shared his views about Rohit's controversial dismissal in the recently concluded encounter. “Fair amount of debate on Rohit’s dismissal. Our initial thought was also that the distance between the stumps and impact might be over the 3 metre mark. But that gets flagged automatically on the ball trajectory is what we understood. Since it didn’t, we assumed that it was under 3 metres. Some clarification by the hawkeye would definitely help and settle the debate,” Chopra added.
