Two Test matches will begin on March 12 of 2022 - Pakistan will take on Australia in Karachi in their second Test of the three-match series at home while India will take on Sri Lanka in a Pink Ball Test in Bengaluru. However, Team India will want to keep a keen eye on the Pakistan game in Karachi, and would rather support their neighbours as the Rohit Sharma-led side will be hoping to reclaim what the Aussies had snatched from them earlier this year.

India will be playing their third Day-Night Test at home when they take on Dimuth Karunaratne's men at the M Chinnaswamy stadium. India had earlier beaten Bangladesh in their historic first at home in 2019 at the Eden Gardens, where Virat Kohli had scored his last international ton, and thrashed England in Ahmedabad last year.

India hence would want to maintain their unbeaten streak in this format of Test cricket and script a whitewash against Sri Lanka at home. And if India do manage to maintain their unbeaten streak at home, Rohit's men will reclaim the No.1 ranking in Test cricket. They had claimed the top spot after series win against New Zealand last November at home, but an Ashes win for the Aussies saw Pat Cummins' side dethrone the Indian team in the ICC Rankings list.

However, the victory comes with the condition that Pakistan need to hold Australia in both their remaining Tests or win at least one of their remaining Tests.

A 2-0 win for India will leave them with 118 rating points, which is still one less than Australia's rating at the start of the series. If Pakistan-Australia series ends 0-0, Cummins' side will slip to the second spot with 115 points and might reach at low as No.3, with 111 points, if Pakistan win at least one of their remaining games. A 1-1 draw will also guarantee India a top spot finish with Australia at No.2 with 115 rating points. However, if the Aussies win both the remaining Tests, they will consolidate their position atop with 121 points.
