The visitors trail by 183 runs. Home captain Joe Root notched up his 50th Test half-century before losing his wicket to Shardul Thakur for 64. Four batsman - Rory Burns, Daniel Lawrence, Jos Buttler and Ollie Robinson - were out without scoring. Mohammed Shami took three wickets (3/28) while Thakur scalped a couple (2/41). Mohammed Siraj also chipped in with the wicket of Zak Crawley.
