Trivia: The first match of the series is Kohli's 50th away Test

The first Test of the series will be Virat Kohli's 50th Test in away matches. The India captain will become the 13th Indian to play 50 or more Tests outside India. Will KL Rahul's return to India's Test XI today?

It is likely. Rahul last played a Test match for India back in 2019. Since, he has been included in the squad but never got a chance to play, having fallen behind Mayank Agarwal and Shubman Gill in the pecking order. With Agarwal concussed and Prithvi Shaw having just reached England, Rahul is the frontrunner to open the innings with Rohit for India.

India vs England, 1st Test, Day 1

It's time. Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the 1st Test between India and England at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. The second edition of the World Test Championship starts with one of the biggest Test series as Virat Kohli's India take on the Joe Root-led England. India's last three Test tours of England have been unforgettable to say the least. From a 0-4 drubbing in 2011 to a 1-3 loss in 2014 to the scoreline worsening to 1-4 in 2018, India have found it really tough playing Test matches in England. However, this time around, with England grappling issues of their own, India have probably their best chance of breaking their string of defeats in the UK.
