PCB chief Ijaz Butt said Tanvir will undergo knee surgery in Australia and that "doctors are not sure when he will regain the fitness."

Butt named 30 probables for the Pakistan team on Friday. Tanvir, the 25-year-old left-arm paceman, was part of the Pakistan team which won the Twenty20 World Cup in England last year. Fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, who has been out of international cricket for the last 10 months due to fitness problems, was also left out.

Butt said the final 15-man squad for the T20 World Cup _ beginning in the West Indies on April 30 _ will be announced on March 8.
