Lately, numerous experts and cricketers have shared their on the bowling combination for India, and former West Indies pacer Ian Bishop is the latest to jump on the bandwagon.
In the build-up to the much-awaited World Test Championship (WTC) final between Virat Kohli's India and New Zealand's Kane Williamson, there has been a lot of discussion about the playing XI of both teams. In fact, the chatter has been louder regarding the Indian camp because of the depth and possible difficulties for the management to pick the best playing XI. The latest to join the bandwagon is former West Indies pacer Ian Bishop, who picked two names for the bowling unit.
Lately, numerous experts and cricketers have shared their on the bowling combination for India. At a press conference organized by Star Sports, Bishop said that he would have Mohammed Siraj and Ishant Sharma in the fast-bowling unit.

Explaining his selection, 53-year-old Bishop said he was very impressed by Siraj's debut against Australia Down Under, where he picked 13 wickets in three matches and finished the series as the most successful bowler of the team. Adding further, Bishop opined that Kohli and Co. would need the experience of Sharma.
“I have high regard for Jasprit Bumrah. Shane (Bond) knows him a lot better that I ever will. But, his skill set has been pretty good, he has performed before. Ishant Sharma has a lot of experience, having had a couple of tours of active duty in England. He has played county cricket there. So, as the elder statesman, Ishant Sharma is in there for me. Of course, (Mohammed) Siraj bowled so well in Australia, but (Mohammed) Shami’s experience, seam position... If he is fit and in good rhythm, I am going will him as well," maintained Bishop.
Addressing the debate on whether India should play two spinners, cricketer-turned-commentator Bishop added that he would pick two spinners instead of an extra pacer in India’s WTC final XI.
“And I am going for the two spinners. (Ravindra) Jadeja bats, (Ravichandran) Ashwin bats, and they are both excellent bowlers and in good form as well. So the balance of the attack for me will be those three seamers and those two spinners.”
The grand finale, which will bring down the curtains on a two-year-long tournament, will be played at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. The match is slated to begin on June 18.
