RR win
There it is, The Rajasthan Royals have the won the match by 6 wickets. Captain Sanju Samson hits the winning runs, it has been a very matured innings from the right-hander. Fourth straight loss for KKR.
RR need 5 off 12 balls
Another productive over for RR and they now need only 5 runs to win this match.
8 runs from Cummins' over
Just the over RR needed at this crunch situation, 8 runs without a wicket. One would have to believe that this Cummins over was Eoin Morgan's last roll of the dice to get a breakthrough. But Miller and Samson held their nerves.
16 overs bowled
A couple to end the over and 16 over s have been bowled in the RR chase. They need 21 runs off 24 balls. KKR would still believe they are in this, if they can somehow get the wicket of Samson.
Important boundary
Nitish Rana should have done better there. He jumped over the ball and it rolled over the boundary ropes to give important four runs to David Miller and Rajasthan Royals. KKR can't afford these easy runs now.
Last 5 overs coming up
As astonishing as it may sound, the match is still alive and we have seen funny things happen to chasing sides. RR need 30 runs off 30 balls with experienced player Samson and Miller in the crease.
Miller survives, thanks to DRS
David Miller reviews straightaway! It was almost an afterthought by the umpire to give that one out. It did appear to be pitching outside leg to the naked eye and the replays confirm it. So Miller survives and Mavi will have to go back to his mark empty-handed.
Krishna strikes in first over
OUT! Prasidh Krishna strikes in his first over. A bit of a nothing shot from Tewetia but that's the way he plays. RR 100 for 4, can they mess it up from here? Surely they can't with Sanju Samson still batting in the middle.
100 up for the Royals
A dab to third man from Sanju Samson for a single, which brings up the 100 for the Rajasthan Royals.
Almost the third wicket for Varun Chakravarthy
Shubman Gill had done a brilliant job first to get to the ball, then time his jump to perfection to hold onto the catch but when he threw the ball back in play as his body weight was carrying him over the ropes, he did not have enough time to run back and complete the catch. Rahul Tewatia survives.
Chakravarthy gets his second
OUT! Shivam Dube went for the extravagant sweep shot but ended up getting a top edge and Prasidh Krishna takes an easy catch at short third man. Can KKR turn thigs around?
10 overs bowled
Sunil Narine concedes 8 in his over. We are halfway through the RR chase and they are comfortably placed at 80 for 2, need 54 more runs to win in 60 balls, should be a cake walk but we've seen funny things happen in the IPL.
RR in strong position
The umpires signal for the first strategic timeout and no prizes to guess which side is the happier going into it. RR are at 72 for 9, chasing 134 for victory with two set batsmen Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube in the crease.
Samson goes big
SIX! That is hammered! Short delivery on off, Samson pulls it over mid-wicket for a maximum. That's the thing with Samson, he looks like a billion-dollars when he gets going.
FREE HIT
Narine has bowled a free hit in the seventh over. But it was well bowled as lonely a single came off it.
Impressive Chakravarthy
Varun Chakravarthy has been impressive again this season. After a breakthrough season in IPL 2020, Varun is bowling well in this edition also and has regularly troubled batsmen in the powerplays.
Dube starts with a six
Shivam Dube faces Sunil Narine and hits a massive six on his third ball.
Mavi gets Jaiswal
OUT! End of a good-looking innings from Yashasvi Jaiswal. Shivam Mavi gets the breakthrough for KKR. One shot too many for the young left-hander, who was looking in fine touch but Mavi gets the last laugh. A good catch in the deep by Nagarkoti.
Jaiswal continues in his merry way
FOUR! What a shot from Yashasvi Jaiswal. He is in some form today. A fuller delivery from Chakravarthy, slightly over pitched and Jaiswal drives it through covers for another boundary. RR: 30/1 after 4 overs.
Four and out
OUT! Varun Chakravarthy straightaway into the action. Jos Buttler welcomed him with a booming cover drive for a boundary and then the KKR spinner came back with a delivery that spun back to hit Buttler right in front. Buttler goes for 5.
Jaiswal in top form
FOUR! Brilliant use of the feet from Yashasvi Jaiswal. He looks in exquisite toch today. Just a shimmy down the pitch and flicks it past the mid on fielder to collect a boundary. RR have gotten off to solid start.
Buttler's been hit on the helmet
OUCH! That must have hurt. A fast bouncer from Pat Cummins, Buttler looked to pull it but was beaten for pace and the ball hit the back of his helmet. He looked jittery and currently the physios are out there in the middle checking for concussion. Looks like Buttler is fine and will carry on.
Successive fours off Jaiswal's bat
FOUR! Two in a row! Width on offer, outside off. Yashasvi Jaiswal frees his arms and cuts it past the diving point fielder and to the fence. FOUR! Elegant! Full ball, on the pads. Yashasvi Jaiswal flicks it to the mid-wicket fence. The fielder from deep square leg runs across but can't stop it.
Good start by Shivam Mavi
A very good start by Shivam Mavi. He would have the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal had Shubman Gill taken the catch at backward point.
Chris Morris finishes with 4 wickets
BOWLED! The perfect finish to the innings for Rajasthan Royals and Chris Morris. He bows Shivam Mavi to end with figures of 4 for 23. The Rajasthan Royals restrict Kolkata Knight Riders to 133 for 9 after opting to field first in Mumbai.
Cummins goes six and out
Pat Cummins hits a six but gets out in the next ball, Royals can do no wrong tonight. It has been a superb bowling and fielding performance from the men in pink, exactly the opposite for KKR.
Karthik goes, Morris has another
Brilliant catch from Chetan Sakariya! The timing of the jump was the key here. Dines Karthik hit it firmly towards the covers, where Sakariya jumped perfectly to hold on to a good catch. Morris has got the wickets of Karthik and Russell in 1 over.
Andre Russell is out
No Dre Russ show tonight at the Wankhede. Brilliant presence of mind from Chris Morris. Once again the double bluff brings about Russell's downfall. Morris bowled a full delivery in the pads of Russell, cramped him for room and he could only hit it as far as the long on fielder.
Russell starts his big hitting
SIX! A full delivery from Chris Morris and Andre Russell was waiting for it, standing deep into the crease. He hits it straight over the bowlers' head and it hits the sight screen. Can he give this KKR innings some momentum?
Lot of extras but still only 12 runs from it
The struggles for KKR are real. Chetan Sakariya gave three extras in that over but KKR still managed to score only 12. We say only 12 as KKR are scoring just above a run a ball with only 3 overs to go.
Finally a boundary
FOUR! After consecutive dot balls, Karthik finds the middle of the bat and it's a one bounce four. This time Mustafizur was guilty of pitching his slower one a bit short and Karthik was quick to go on the backfoot and pull it away in the gap for a four. Last 4 overs to go with KKR at 98/5.
Rahul Tripathi falls for 36
OUT! Didn't pick the slower at all and Rahul Tripathi ended up skying it. A lot of height but no distance and Riyan Parag makes that catch loo so so easy stand at deep mid wicket. Tripathi has to go for 36, that will finally bring Andre Russell in the middle.
15 overs bowled
Only one boundary and five singles, KKR still searching for that over with multiple boundaries but what brilliant bowling from Sakariya. The camera pans towards Andre Russell in the dressing room, have KKR wasted their best hitter?
1000 runs for KKR for Karthik
A single for Dinesh Karthik to bring up his 1000 runs while playing for KKR. He has played for many teams in the IPL but has been the most successful with KKR and boy do they need him to finish well.
Karthik sweeps it for four
FOUR! Dinesh Karthik has brought the sweep shot out and makes superb connection. No chance for either of the deep square-leg or mid-wicket fielder. The ball races away like a bullet for a boundary. Tewatia needs to be careful, Karthik will come hard.
Another tight over for RR
Good over from Shivam Dube, only 5 runs from it and this KKR innings is going nowhere. None of their batters except Tripathi have been able to score more than a run a ball today and reflects on their run rate which is below even after the end of the 13th overs.
Tripathi goes big
SIX! What an excellent shot. In between all the chaos, Rahul Tripathi has got his act together and hit Rahul Tewatia over extra cover for his second six of the match. It was tossed up and Tripathi skipped down the track, it was almost premeditated and was well executed.
Morgan is run out without facing a ball
Tragedy for KKR and captain Eoin Morgan! It was firmly hit by Rahul Tripathi which hit Eoin Morgan's bat. Tripathi called for a single, Morgan responded but was sent back. Morris collected the ball and whipped the bails off, Morgan had no chance to get back in time. There was never a run in it. KKR 61/4 now.
Jaiswal redeems himself
Yashasvi Jaiswal takes stunning catch to dismiss Sunil Narine. There was only one way he was going to play and this time he gets a top edge off Unadkat's slower one and Jaiswal, who had dropped Gill earlier, takes a brilliant diving catch.
Sunil Narine starts well
FOUR! Well now we all know why Suni Narine has been promoted to No.4 not that we had any doubts about how he would go about his innings but he just proves it by hitting his first ball over mid off for a boundary.
Sakariya strikes
Edged and taken! It was not happening for Nitish Rana today and it finally comes to an end but full marks to Chetan Sakariya for sticking to his line and length. It was pitched on the back of a length and Rana wanted to hit it over in-field in the off side but ends up getting an outside edge to keeper Samson. Rana goes for 22.
8 runs off Tewatia's first
Rahul Tewatia starts his spell with an 8-run over but RR wouldn't mind that at all. KKR need boundaries and they are not getting them as often the would like to. Rana is struggling for timing today.
First six of the match
SIX! Cracking sound off the bat. Unadkat erred in length and line and Nitish Rana just went back after picking the slower one early to short pull in deep into the stands. Is that momentum changer? Can Rana turn things around now? KKR 37/1 after 7 overs.
Tripathi off the mark
FOUR! That's the intent that KKR were lacking and Rahul Tripathi shows intent straightaway. He comes down the track and hits Unadkat straight back for a boundary. He didn't get the best timing but it had enough legs to beat Morris.
Shubman Gill is run out
Brilliant work from Jos Buttler. There was no run it really but the runs were not coming, he had to do something and went for a quick single after a defensive push towards short mid off. Buttler picked it with one hand and hits the stumps with an under arm throw. Gill goes for 11 off 19 balls. KKR 25/1 after six overs.
Morris starts well
Four dot balls to start from Chris Morris, followed by a couple and another dot ball, only two runs from the over. The boundaries are not coming for KKR. They have failed to take advantage of the powerplay and are 23/0 after 5 overs.
Jaiswal drops Gill
"Should've been swallowed," said Ian Bishop in the commentary and one would have to say, Bish was right. Jaiswal did the hard work of running to get to the ball but could not hold on to it. Gill wanted to go over the top but this time it was a slower one from Mustafizur, there was no timing, he ended up slicing it towards deep point but luckily the catch wasn't taken and he got 2 runs.
Gill goes aerial
FOUR! Nice shot from Shubma Gill. KKR needed that, there was too much pressure and Gill decided to take the aerial route against Mustafizur Rahman. He was helped by the leg stump line of the delivery but he did well to flick it in the gap.
So far so good for RR
Another good over from Unadkat. There was a boundary in it but apart from that there were only two singles. Gill and Rana need to break the shackles of the two southpaws. KKR 14/0 after 3 overs.
Nice shot from Rana
FOUR! Makes room for himself and steers the ball between the point and third man fielder for a boundary. It was in the air but Rana ensured it was in the gap, the first boundary of the KKR innings comes in the 3rd over.
