Sehwag clears fitness test

Virender Sehwag will play in Delhi Daredevils’ opening Champions League Twenty20 encounter against IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders at Centurion on Saturday after he cleared the fitness test here. Sehwag had suffered a ligament strain on his left ankle during India’s final Super Eights game against South Africa in Colombo.

“Virender Sehwag cleared the test and was declared fit to play in the tournament from the start,” said a Delhi Daredevils official. On Thursday, Sehwag also played a warm-up game against Sydney Sixers, where he fell for a duck.

Meanwhile in the qualifying round, the match between Uva Next and Trinidad & Tobago was rained out. In another match, Sialkot Stallions beat Hampshire by six wickets.
