The Aam Aadmi Party’s candidate selection process is drawing some disenchantment in the party.
A party member who submitted the selection form along with 1400 plus signatures of voters said on condition of anonymity that while he has submitted the requisite forms with the signatures of voters, there are many other new entrants who have not been asked to do the same.
“This is gross injustice. We took pains to visit entire assembly constituency to collect the signatures of the voters but many new entrants have been spared this exercise, which is not fair.”
Pawan Gupta, member of the AAP Election Campaign Committee, says the party has asked all the probable candidates to provide hundreds of signatures of voters from the Lok Sabha constituency they wish to represent. Besides, there is another provision in the selection process whereby the people can themselves nominate eminent persons of social standing as their candidate from their area.
“I have suggested names of some eminent persons for Uttar Pradesh and Chattisgarh,” Gupta said, adding “the process of choosing the candidate will be totally objective and fair.”
The party has set a selection process for the prospective candidate for the general election. A candidate with the approval of 100 voters from his constituency may propose his own name or 100 voters of any assembly constituency can come together and propose the name of a person they wish to be their candidate for their constituency.

{{/usCountry}}Meanwhile, though AAP has announced the name of Harish Arya as its candidate for the Almora seat, it has not yet announced the names for the four seats of Uttarakhand. The party, which has accepted several eminent personalities in its fold, is now considering including them in the list of probable official candidates.
Uttarakhand Mahila Manch president Kamla Pant, who also figures among the probables for the Lok Sabha tickets, has not yet filled up the online application forms nor resented the signatures of hundreds of voters.
