Gangster ties knot under police watch

Imprisoned gangster Sachin Khokhar got married to his fiancée Shivi Chaudhari under police security cover at Sanatan Dharamshala at Ram Nagar town in Roorkee district on Saturday.

Khokhar, resident of Baghpat, is serving jail sentence at Naini jail since 2014. He was allowed a four-hour parole to take part in the wedding, which was attended by five people from both bride and groom side.

Khokhar, known for his sharp shooting skills, was married to Chaudhari, a resident of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh, according to the Hindu Vedic tradition and musical band.

Superintendent of Police, Roorkee Rural, Manikant Mishra said after completion of the four-hour parole, Khokhar was taken back to the prison at 4pm. The entire Sanatan Dharamshala premise was cordoned off in the wake of threat to Khokhar’s life from rival gangs. More than a dozen armed policemen in addition to the intelligence sleuths were deployed at the wedding venue.

As the news of Khokhar’s marriage spread, the town was abuzz with talks about the gangster, though no one was allowed to enter the wedding venue.
