Rakesh Sharma who has been re-appointed as chief secretary by the state government said he has outlined three main priorities for the next three months. Sharma is known for accelerating the reconstruction works in the Kedarnath area after the 2013 calamities.
While talking to HT, Sharma said completing the works in Kedarnath before extreme winters arrive would be one of the main tasks.
Sharma said major works in Kedarnath area would be completed by December 15. The Chardham Helipad at Guptkashi would also be upgraded for the sorties of MI 17 helicopters that would take materials to Kedarnath.
The work of making a parking at Sonprayag and development of Rambara would be completed by November 21, he said.
The bidding process for the ropeway from Lincholi to Kedarnath would also be completed soon, after which materials would be transported through this ropeway, said the chief secretary.
Sharma said air connectivity would be strengthened throughout the state.
“My priority would be to start flights between Delhi and Chinyalisaur (Uttarkashi) and Pithoragarh by New Year. These two places would also be connected with helicopter services. This would help boost tourism in the state as well as increase the revenue,” said Sharma.
Sharma said he would focus on the Kumbh mela to be held in Haridwar in 2016. “We are making efforts that all the works related to mela are finalised by December 31,” said the chief secretary.
