At a two-day meet of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) at Ramnagar beginning Tuesday, officers discussed the probability and ways to ensure accreditation of the divisions.

Lansdowne forest division became the lone forest division from India to enter CATS list last year.

The NTCA is pushing to bring both the divisions on the list to get global funding and guidance for better tiger protection.

Ramnagar and Haldwani are adjoining Corbett Tiger Reserve as a result of which the divisions have healthy tiger population.

“We hope to bring both the divisions in the CATS list,” said Digvijay Singh Khati, the chief wildlife warden.

Field directors of nearly 50 tiger reserves participated in the meeting aimed at discussing the forthcoming All India Tiger Estimation 2019 and also share best practices.

Panna Tiger Reserve gave presentation on how 24-hour camera monitoring of the tiger is being done while Nagarhole tiger reserve has made barriers from girders that are auctioned by railway department to keep wild animals away from railway tracks.
