The Congress party was upset with Pratap because his comments buttressed the allegations levelled by the Bharatiya Janata Party president on Sunday that Harish Rawat had promised around 15,000 development schemes during various public meetings but not even 300 schemes have come to life.

Pratap, the vice president of ‘Uttarakhand Rajya Nirman Andolankari Samaan Parishad, (a government body formed to look after statehood activists) wrote to party leaders: “The promises made by the chief minister which are certainly in large numbers could boomerang and prove disastrous for the party if not fulfilled in time”.

“There are few overs in hands, we have a challenge to make runs fast and also save our wickets,” Pratap said in a cricketing term.

Party vice president Jot Singh Bisht said Pratap was a loudmouth.

In his letter, he also demanded that cabinet minister Indra Hridyesh be appointed as the deputy chief minister.

The minister was a strong contender for the post in 2012 when the Congress formed government in the state. She also headed a committee that designed party’s manifesto.
