Some rebel Congress legislators are willing to discuss their grievances with the party’s central leadership, but sources said the high command may permanently shut doors on three of them for leading the rebellion and persuading other MLAs to defect.
Congress sources said senior leader Reeta Bahuguna Joshi may not be able to help her brother, rebel MLA Vijay Bahuguna, to come back to the party. Party’s national top brass has also denied chances of return to two more rebel MLAs — Harak Singh Rawat and Subodh Uniyal — and communicated its decision to the chief minister and the state leadership.
State Congress president Kishore Upadhyay refused to divulge party’s decision but left enough hints that the leadership doesn’t want these three MLAs back.
These leaders have led the defection and back-stabbed the party, but the decision about their return will be taken by the central government, he said.
“The central leadership is looking on the activities of the rebel MLAs. We have not been communicated any decision so far. The state Congress has already expelled Vijay Bahuguna’s son Saket for six years for conspiring defection,” said Upadhyay.
Senior Congress leaders claimed a few leaders in Delhi are trying to approach party vice-president Rahul Gandhi to discuss about the rebellion and strike deals in favour of the rebels. But Rahul refused to discuss with these three leaders, the sources said.
