Delhi boy found dead in school toilet: Father says Tushar was punctual, wanted to be a cop

The father said Tushar was a cheerful and hardworking boy. He knew the importance of sports and wanted to bring discipline in his life to become a police inspector.

The teenager, who was allegedly murdered by his classmates in their school toilet in east Delhi’s Karawal Nagar, wanted to be a police officer, said his father.

“A police inspector like him,” said Tushar’s father Sunil Ootwal, pointing to a police officer standing outside the mortuary of GTB hospital on Friday. He had gone to take his son’s body.

“But his wish remained unfulfilled and with that our dreams are shattered as well,” said Ootwal.

Ootwal and Kumar’s maternal uncle Manoj Rajoria said Kumar had first told them a few years ago he wanted to become a police inspector.

“Not only would he remind us periodically about what he wanted to become, he even tried to bring in the discipline needed to be a policeman. He was very punctual and would always reach school and college on time. He always made a schedule and stuck to it,” said Rajoria.

“He exercised regularly and was very fond of playing cricket, which helped in his fitness pursuit as well,” said Ootwal.

Kumar’s father said he would miss his son’s cheerful nature and refused to believe that his son died in a fight with his classmates.

“He could not have picked up a fight. This can’t be true. But he also had the courage to face problems and hit back when challenged. Those boys must have ganged up and he must have been alone to defend himself,” said the father with teary eyes.
