Delhi: Man shot dead, sister stabbed in clash between two groups

A 40-year-old man was shot dead and his sister stabbed in a clash between two groups in southeast Delhi’s Madangir on Tuesday evening. Some family members of the deceased alleged that the other group passed lewd remarks at his sister which triggered the clash. However, police denied it.

Some family members of the deceased alleged that the other group passed lewd remarks at his sister which triggered the clash. However, the DCP said there was no truth to such allegations.

The police are also probing if gambling was behind the clash.

The incident was reported around 6.30 pm on Tuesday. Though the caller informed the police about a woman being stabbed, when the cops reached the spot they found that shot had been fired too.

The victims had already been shifted to a nearby hospital. The man who had received two gunshot wounds died during treatment while his sister remained under treatment.

The woman has told the police that she and her brother were attacked by a group of five-six men in the evening following an argument between them and her family members in the afternoon.

“The woman was not able to speak coherently because of which we are yet to know what exactly triggered the attack. We are trying to get the details from her family members,” said Romil Baaniya, DCP (southeast).

Police have arrested one of the suspects and formed teams to arrest the others.
