Delhi sees respite at 36 degrees due to rains in neighbouring states, moist winds from Bay of Bengal

Delhi and surrounding regions on Wednesday got a much-needed respite as the mercury fell by five degrees over the past 24 hours and maximum temperature was recorded at 36.6 degree Celsius, four notches below the season’s average.

The national capital and surrounding regions on Wednesday got a much-needed respite as the mercury fell by five degrees over the past 24 hours and maximum temperature was recorded at 36.6 degree Celsius, four notches below the season’s average.

With thundery developments in the northwest plains to continue, Thursday may also see respite but the mercury will rise marginally, according to the weather analysts. Thursday’s maximum temperature is expected to hover around 37 degrees.

The minimum temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 28.5, a notch above the season’s average.

At 38.5 degrees, Palam was the warmest region in Delhi, followed by 37.4 degrees in Ayanagar and 35.2 degrees in Ridge area.

“Rains over parts of western Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana, and moist easterly winds from Bay of Bengal will have their effects on Thursday. The mercury will however marginally rise,” Mahesh Palawt, director of private weather forecasting agency Skymet, told IANS.

Due to moderate winds, the air quality of the national capital improved as the Air Quality Index of Wednesday was 136 against 171 on Tuesday on a scale of 0 to 500. The humidity oscillated between 62-66%.
