Delhi: Two minor girls raped by people known to them
An eight-year-old girl was raped, allegedly by her uncle, at her grandparents’ home in central Delhi’s Matia Mahal last week. A 10-year-old girl was raped, allegedly by her 17-year-old neighbour, on Tuesday afternoon.
Two minor girls were raped by people known to them in two separate incidents in central and outer Delhi.
In the first incident, an eight-year-old girl was raped, allegedly by her uncle, at her grandparents’ home in central Delhi’s Matia Mahal last week.
The crime was discovered on Sunday night when the girl’s mother found blood on her clothes and asked her about it. Initially, the girl tried to avoid the query but later broke down.
“The girl told her mother that she was violated by her uncle who used to lock himself with her in his room. She said it had been happening for the past few weeks,” said a police officer.
The girl’s mother approached the Chandni Mahal police and a case was registered on Tuesday.
The girl’s mother told the police that she lives with her husband and three children – two sons and a daughter – in Paharganj. One of her sons is speech impaired. The woman said her other two children stay at her parental home in Matia Mahal after school.
Last Friday, the girl was playing in the house when her uncle asked her to bring a glass of water. When she went to the room, the uncle bolted the door from inside and forced himself on her. He threatened to kill her if she raised an alarm or told anybody about the incident.
The girl remained silent as she was scared. But when the mother found blood on her clothes, she told her everything.
In a similar incident in outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri, a 10-year-old girl was raped, allegedly by her 17-year-old neighbour, on Tuesday afternoon.
The boy took her to his home by saying her mother was at his home and she was looking for her, police said.
Police said the teenager locked himself in a room and raped her. He allegedly threatened to kill her younger brother if she told anybody about it.
The girl told her grandmother who told her parents and they approached the police.
The teenager was apprehended and produced before the juvenile justice board that sent him to correction home.
