Electrician injured after ‘uninvited guests’ at Delhi wedding fire in the air

Police said the miscreants allegedly ransacked and vandalised the venue after they were asked to leave.

A few uninvited ‘guests’ allegedly shot an electrician in his hand and beat up the bride’s cousin with sticks after they were asked to leave a banquet hall in north-east Delhi’s Welcome on Tuesday night.

An argument between the family hosting the wedding and the group ensued and they were told to leave. The miscreants allegedly ransacked and vandalised the venue.

“When I protested, they thrashed me with a stick. One of them fired in the air,” Irshad, the bride’s brother said. A bullet hit the hand of 18-year-old Aamir, an electrician after which they fled the spot. Their alleged leader Shariq, was arrested later while others remain at large.

The DCP said the suspects were booked for causing hurt, causing grievous injuries by using dangerous weapons and endangering others’ lives.

According to the DCP, four men had came looking for coffee. “They came looking for coffee but couldn’t find the dispensing machine when the hosts confronted them,” the DCP said.

An argument ensued and Shariq and the rest were told to go away. “They left the spot and threatened to return in sometime. A few minutes later, they came back with sticks. One was wielding a pistol,” said Irshad.

The miscreants allegedly ransacked the venue and vandalised the decors. “When I protested, they thrashed me with a stick. One of them fired in the air,” Irshad said.

Irshad and Aamir were rushed to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital. “At the hospital, I noticed Shariq seeking treatment and alerted the police. He was caught right there,” said Irshad.
