Mystery over death of 3 siblings during treatment in Delhi hospital

The children were brought to the hospital in a semi-conscious condition by the mother and were pronounced dead during the treatment. Police are waiting for a report from the doctors to ascertain the cause of the death,

Three children – aged eight, four and two years – died mysteriously after their mother admitted them at a hospital in east Delhi on Tuesday morning.

Police said they were informed about the incident around 1 pm. The police control room called Mandawali police station informing that three kids had died after they were admitted to Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital’s emergency.

A senior police officer, on the condition of anonymity, said preliminary probe revealed that the father of the children, a rickshawpuller and mother, a homemaker, rushed their kids to hospital around 10 am, reporting that they were down with diarrhoea for the past few days.

“It has come to notice that the kids were semi-conscious when brought to the hospital. During treatment, all of them were pronounced dead. The hospital staff then called up the police and the bodies were sent for a post-mortem examination to find out the reason behind their sudden death,” the officer said.

Police are questioning neighbours of the couple to know more about the kids’ whereabouts before they died. “The parents will be questioned after the bodies are handed over to them for last rites,” the officer said.
