Government doctor arrested for raping patient at his Dwarka flat

NEW DELHI: A 47-year-old doctor at Gurgaon’s Civil Hospital was arrested for alleging raping a patient at his Dwarka flat, police said on Sunday.

The accused, Dr Arvind Jindal, was arrested by Delhi Police after the victim, who lives with his family near Sheetla Mata mandir in Gurgaon, registered a complaint at Dwarka Sector 23 police station.

Police said Jindal, an orthopedician, was treating the woman for the last two years. The woman underwent a foot surgery two years ago and had developed some complications . The doctor, police said, had promised the woman a job in an NGO, run by his friend.

The incident took place on Friday when the doctor asked the woman to accompany him from Gurgaon to meet his friend for the job in Dwarka. On their way, the doctor told the woman that he needed to go to his flat at Sector 23-A, Dwarka, where he raped the woman.

“We have arrested the doctor from his flat,” said KS Rahat, SHO of Sector 23 police station.
