Accountability lies at heart of the problem

“From Monday, my husband will take our daughter to school and I will bring her back. We cannot take any chances with our daughter's life,” she said.

The ghastly incident has once again brought to the fore the accountability of people close to the children in question.

“There's absolutely no accountability of van or cab drivers. I advise parents to use school buses for their children. But some parents sacrifice all sense of security for a little comfort,” said Ameeta Wattal, principal, Springdales School, Pusa Road.

Amod Kanth, chairperson, Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) said, “I feel both parties -- the victim's family as well as the accused are responsible.”
