Lawyer and AAP leader Prashant Bhushan on Saturday dubbed Kiran Bedi’s decision to join the BJP and contest the Delhi Assembly polls as ‘opportunistic’, saying it went ‘sharply against’ her earlier stand on electoral politics.

He also said the BJP’s bid to gain power by projecting Bedi as its chief ministerial nominee would fail.“When Bedi was invited to join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) when it was formed, she had said she was not interested in electoral politics. Now, she has joined the BJP and agreed to be its chief ministerial candidate. This is opportunism,” Bhushan, a founder leader of AAP, said at a face-to-face at the Press Club.
Criticising the Modi government, he charged it with not initiating any effective action to crackdown on corruption and trace black money, which had formed the main campaign plank of the BJP.
