The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up to launch a protest, as the Delhi government is contemplating revising circle rates in Delhi.
The rate determines the minimum amount that a buyer needs to pay to the treasury towards registration of a sale deed.
Strongly opposing the government’s move, leader of the opposition in Delhi assembly Vijay Kumar Malhotra said it would further make it difficult for a middle-income person to own a property in the Capital.
Delhi government plans to increase the circle rates between 50% to 200%.
Vijender Gupta, president, Delhi BJP, said the anti-people Congress government of Delhi was going to crush the hopes of the people to get a roof over their heads.
“After this increase the minimum price of land in Delhi will be R30,000 per square metre,” Gupta said.
Delhi government had increased circle rates by 100% in February this year.
“If the rates are revised according to the new proposal then the rate for A-category colonies will be R1,72,000 per square meter. It will not be possible for the common man to purchase land at such high rates,” said Gupta.
