Gurgaon, it seems, is a safe haven for carjackers. On Thursday, robbers drove away a Toyota Fortuner at gunpoint from outside the house of a developer in DLF City. Also, a Maruti Alto with flat tyres and an empty fuel tank was also stolen from DLF City.
In the first incident, three unidentified men drove up in a Hyundai i10 to where the driver was washing the Fortuner outside car owner Vinod Kumar’s D-block residence in DLF City at 10.30am. One of them pointed a gun at Pramod Singh, the driver. They then pushed him aside and sped away with the car.
Everything happened so fast that Singh could not even note down the number. He however told the police that the three had been driving a grey i10. “We informed the police immediately. They informed the control room and aired the number of our vehicle to all,” said Kumar.
An Alto was also stolen from D-block in DLF phase 1 on Wednesday night. “The car was punctured and did not even have fuel. Despite this, the thieves manage to steal it,” said Gaurav Singla, a local resident.
Rama Rani Rathe , the area councillor said such incidents were on a rise in her ward. “Early this month, a motorbike was stolen from our office at Arjun Marg,” she added.
