According to a police officer, Jubaida Khatoon was found at her home with a severe head injury and her wrist slit. A ligature mark around her neck suggested that she was strangled before being hit on her head, the officer said.

"Khatoon's body was first discovered by her son Shamshad, who was at his uncle's home on Friday night. Shamshad told his uncle about the matter, who in turn made a call to the police. She was taken to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival," said the officer, adding they have registered a case of murder.

Khatoon lived with her husband Abdul Kalam, 38, a labourer, and four children at their home in Jheel Khureji.
