Court accepts plea by GGSIU students for promotion

Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw, stating that the amendment in the Indraprastha Vishwa Vidyalay Act will have no retrospective effect, allowed a petition filed by 107 students against the university, after they were denied promotion.

About 3,500 students from various courses like BTech, MBA, MCA and others were not promoted by the university saying that the criteria for promotion under Indraprastha Vishwa Vidyalay Act for next academic year was amended by the Board of Management in August last year. The new criteria would be applicable only on the batches of 2009-10 and next year onwards.

Alleging that the management’s decision was not communicated neither to their colleges nor to them, the students from various colleges under the university in the National Capital Region (NCR) approached the High Court.
