The mercury was at a minimum of 9.2 degrees Celsius, up from Thursday's eight degrees and two degrees above normal, on Friday morning, the MeT Department said attributing the rise in temperature to Western Disturbance.

The minimum temperature has shown an increasing trend for the past couple of days. On Wednesday, the minimum was 6.7 degrees Celsius.

"With the Western Disturbance, south-westerly winds are likely all over north-west India, causing further increase in night temperatures. But there will be a fall in day temperatures by about 2-3 degrees," the weatherman said.

The forecast for tomorrow predicts a more warmer day with maximum hovering around 22 degree Celsius and minimum 12 degrees.

The sky will be partly cloudy and capital is expected to have isolated showers in the next two days, the Weatherman said.

January this year has been warmer so far as compared to last year when the minimum temperature dropped below five degrees a number of times.

The season's lowest temperature was recorded on January 2 when the minimum temperature plummeted to four degrees. On January eight, the minimum temperature was recorded at 4.5 degrees Celsius, the second lowest of the season.
