High on the success of his recent chartbuster Goosebump, which was picturised on Jackie Chan, rapper Fazilpuria talks about his upcoming single with Pitbull and why he loves performing in the Capital.

Rapper Fazilpuria is on a high after his recent chartbuster song Goosebump was picturised on Jackie Chan. But what really gives him a kick is to perform in front of a live audience, and even better if it’s in the Capital. “Performing in Delhi is always a pleasure. The feedba-ck that I get here is amazing; Kyunki Dilli hai dil walo ki. People love to party and know how to rock the dance floor. And since Delhi is adjacent to Haryana, people also understand Haryanvi and enjoy my performance, ” says the Haryanvi rapper.

Rapper Fazilpuria, riding high on the success of his latest song Goosebump, speaks about his love for Delhi.

Fazilpuria, who is from Gurgaon, is known to have put Haryanvi rap in the mainstream. He says that his favourite Bollywood actor is Kangana Ranaut, who has portrayed a Haryanvi character in Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015). He says, “Haryanvi has fun undertones and is entertaining; sabko sunne mein achi lagti hai. Although the accent is not easy to learn, Kangana did a great job.”

Meanwhile, the rapper who’s also collaborating with American rapper Pitbull for a party track, says the video will be shot in Dubai. “Every project I do, I put my heart and soul in it. I always strive to do something different. The project is under-way and will be completed by May-June. Since it’s a big project and we don’t want to compromise on anything,” says Fazilpuria, whose single, Million Dollars with Lauren Gottlieb is out soon.

Born in Gurgaon, the rapper also shares his displeasure on the name Gurugram. “It shouldn’t be Gurugram. Gurgaon has changed and with Gurugram it seems like we are going 50 years back. Yeh achi baat hai hamare bado ne rakha tha Gurugram, lekin usko Gurgaon nahi karna chahiye tha, aur Gurgaon kar diya tha toh waapis Gurugram nahi karna chahiye. (It’s good that our elders named it Gurugram, but then it shouldn’t have been named Gurgaon, and if they had named it Gurgaon, it shouldn’t have gone back to Gurugram).”
