Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh was among the ten newly elected members who took oath or affirmation in Rajya Sabha on Thursday.

Deshmukh, a former chief minister of Maharashtra who was elected in the recent biennial elections from the state, took the oath in Marathi.
Ranjitsinh Mohite Patil and Govindrao Adik, both NCP, also took oath in Marathi.
While Nandkumar Sai (BJP) from Chhattisgarh took oath in Sanskrit, Shadi Lal Batra (Congress) from Haryana did so in Punjabi. Ghulam Nabi Wani (National Conference) took oath in Kashmiri.
Anil Dave took oath in Sanskrit, while Kaptan Singh Solanki did so in Hindi. Both are BJP MPs from Madhya Pradesh.
Narendra Budania (Congress) from Rajasthan and Jai Prakash Rawat (BSP) from Uttar Pradesh took the oath or affirmation in Hindi.
The new members were congratulated with thumping of desks.
