Ensure good care of Arunima Sinha: Health Min tells UP Govt

The health ministry has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to take good care of athlete Arunima Sinha who lost a leg after being pushed off a train during a robbery attempt.

The health ministry has asked the Uttar Pradesh government to take good care of athlete Arunima Sinha who lost a leg after being pushed off a train during a robbery attempt.

In a letter to the UP health department, the office of minister of state for Health and Family Welfare Dinesh Trivedi, expressed extreme concern about the quality of medical care extended to Arunima.

They asked for the best possible medical facilities and treatment be provided to her.

"In case, any help is required in terms of medical opinion and expert view from institute like AIIMS, we would be keen to provide the same to the Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Medical Institute," the letter said.

Sinha, a national-level volleyball player lost her left leg after being pushed out of a speeding train.

She has already been shifted to AIIMS after it was detected that her amputated left leg had been infected.

The 23-year-old athlete was brought to the Trauma Centre of AIIMS from Lucknow at around 8:30 PM and was examined by a team of doctors under the supervision of Trauma Centre chief Dr M C Misra.
