Five Point Someone enthralls art lovers

The stage adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's popular novel Five Point Someone weaved a magic for theatre lovers, leaving the audience at the jam-packed Epicentre auditorium here spell bound.

The stage adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's popular novel Five Point Someone weaved a magic for theatre lovers, leaving the audience at the jam-packed Epicentre auditorium here spell bound.

The play was staged twice on Saturday evening by Chennai-based theatre troupe Evam.

The audience found themselves infatuated with the three main characters - Alok, Hari and Ryan - played by Yudhistir, Naveen and Avinash respectively, portraying the lives of average students at India's premier engineering institute, IIT.

The story became more popular after Bollywood film 3 idiots adopted the plot of the novel. The audience included youngsters, families, artists and workers of the multi-nationals firms. And all of them were overjoyed with the stage performance.

"Even after reading the book and having watched the movie 3 idiots, one was hooked to what is going to happen next," says Pallavi Doshi one of the audience.

Deeksha Bhatnagar found the play even better than the movie. "The movie was exaggerated," she said.

The sets of the play created a unique canvass with the leading characters playing their part at the terrace under the natural light of the full-moon night.
