The Delhi High Court on Friday slammed an experts committee appointed by it for delay in drafting guidelines on how to bring down level of pesticides in vegetables sold in the market.

"We are concerned with the level of pesticide and how can it be brought down. The committee was given three months to draft rules but it is not ready," a bench of justice SK Kaul and justice Vipin Sanghi told government counsel Meera Bhatia.
"Things cannot work like this. It cannot be at their leisure and pleasure. This is totally unacceptable. We hold with regret that there is hardly any progress. Hold frequent meetings," the bench said, giving them a deadline of October 10.
The court had formed a committee in May this year headed by union agriculture ministry's joint director Sarita Bhalla.
