India to push Pakistan for Lakhvi, Saeed extradition

India will send the judgement convicting Ajmal Kasab to Pakistan and seek extradition of terrorists like Hafiz Saeed and Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, who were also found guilty by a special court for the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

Government sources said the documents with the evidence given to the court, would be sent after it receives a copy of judgement delivered by special judge M.L. Tahiliyani in Mumbai.

New Delhi does not expect Pakistan to accede to the Indian request wants to emphasise on the role of the LeT operatives in terror activities and nudge Islamabad to deliver on assurances given to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to restrain Lashkar founder Saeed and expedite trial against Lakhvi.

During the Foreign Secretary level talks on February 25, India had given three dossiers. In the first dossier, India has demanded that besides Saeed and Lakvi, Lashkar operatives Muzzamil, Abu Hamza, Abu Khafa and Usman be handed over to it.

The government is also set to approach the US to firm up convenient dates on which the Indian interrogators could question Lashkar oeprative David Coleman Headley on the conspiracy around the 26/11 attacks. Government officials, however, say they do not expect more from Headley beyond what he has already told the FBI agents.
