Airports regulator, the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA), has notified the levy of Airport Development Fee (ADF) at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport by Delhi International Airport Private Limited (DIAL) — the private airport operator.

The levy of ADF was suspended by the Delhi High Court in June. “The final order of AERA paves the way to recommence charging ADF with effect from December 1 for an estimated period up to May 2013 to recover Rs 1,230.27 crore,” DIAL said. “Each departing domestic passenger will be charged Rs 200 while each departing international passengers will be charged Rs 1,300 exclusive of taxes, if any,” the operator said.

“We welcome the restoration of ADF. It has come as a great relief. Despite suspension of collection of ADF for over five months, DIAL struggled and met all its obligations, including servicing of capital creditors and short-term loans raised for execution of the project,” said I Prabhakara Rao, CEO, DIAL.
