Man arrested for duping AIIMS nurse of Rs 4.5 lakh

The west Delhi police on Saturday arrested an ex-staff of a bank for allegedly duping a staff nurse in All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Aiims) of Rs 4.5 lakh on the pretext of providing her bank loan that she needed for purchasing a flat. The arrested person has been identified as Chander Mohan (24), a resident of Nazafgarh.

Police claimed Mohan was an expert in mimicking a woman’s voice and used to lure female victims and has studied only up to Class 10. A mobile phone and Rs 1.30 lakh out of the total cheated amount were recovered from his possession, police said.

V Renganathan, additional commissioner of police (west) said the arrest came following investigation into a complaint lodged by Naresh Kumari.

“She had told us that someone had cheated her with her hard earned money by promising her bank loan. A case was registered at Mundka police station on her complaint and investigation was initiated,” said Renganathan.

During investigation, Renga-nathan said, it was learnt that the accused had opened an account in HDFC Bank in her name after procuring required documents from her. He had transacted the money from her original account to the new account and later withdrew it using ATM card.
