The west district police on Monday arrested a 54-year-old property dealer for allegedly cheating people by selling plots which were already sold to others.

Rajpal Singh, who belongs to Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested from his hometown following investigation into cases of cheating registered against him.
Two cases of cheating of Rs 1.20 crore were solved with his arrest, said V Renganathan, additional CP (west).
In 2006, Renganathan said, one Randhir Singh and his brother, landlords in Baprola village, had given Rajpal their land to be further divided into plots. Till late 2010, Rajpal sold the land to various people but allegedly did not pay the Singh brothers the entire amount.
“Rajpal started selling vacant plots, which were already sold, by preparing forged documents to pay the landlords. Using this modus operandi, he duped several people to the tune of crores of rupees. In November, he disappeared from the area with his family after disposing of all his properties,” added Renganathan.
