Three women from northeast beat up a teenager after he was caught sneaking into their fourth-floor room to molest them late on Saturday night.

19-year-old Lalit Joshi, who was chased down and handed over to the police later, confessed that he had dramatically climbed over several terraces and slid two stories down a metallic ventilator to gain access to the women’s bedroom in an apartment at southwest Delhi’s Naraina around 1:30 am.

“Joshi had gathered information about the architecture of the building and learnt about a ventilation duct right above the room,” said a police officer.

A resident of nearby Naraina Village, Joshi exploited the proximity of the buildings in the area to his advantage.

According to his confession, Joshi started out on the terrace of a building some structures down the line from the one where his targets were sleeping and safely jumped from one to the other before just two stories separated him from the three women.

The women are employed at separate private firms as executives and hail from different states in the northeast.

“He then dismantled an iron grille, slid down the shaft and went through another similar grille attached to the ceiling of the women’s room before jumping down bang in the middle of the room. Joshi even opened the door to the room so that he could molest the women and run away in the dark,” the officer said.

As soon as he put his hands on one of them, her roommate recognised his presence in the room and screamed.

“The other two women woke up with a start and all three of them jumped on Joshi, dragged him to the floor and gave him a sound beating before their landlord and neighbours turned up. He was handed over to the local police and was booked for molestation and trespassing,” the officer added.
