No formal invite to PM, says MEA

There is no formal invitation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to visit Pakistan to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Nawaz Sharif. “There is no specific proposal on the table of a specific request for a specific occasion,” Syed Akbaruddin, spokesperson of the external affairs ministry said.

However, he said when the PM had called up Sharif to congratulate him and extended him an invitation to visit India, “during the course of that conversation, Sharif also extended a similar invitation to the PM,” the spokesperson said.
