Now ‘gear’ up for the next round of F1, beginning Oct 28
Rock band Indian Ocean and a few wannabe celebrities from the MTV programme ‘Roadies’ may have been in attendance, but the loudest cheers were reserved, fittingly, for the loudest attraction of the Red Bull Speed Street Event at Rajpath in New Delhi today.

The crowd, estimated to be around 60,000 at the Rajpath, cheered even when the Red Bull Racing Formula One Team’s show car’s engine was fired up and revved in order to be warmed up for the run.
The cheers, however, turned into blank stares as the car unleashed the full potential of its acceleration and speed. The crowd could only stare as the car, more akin to a shiny and noisy gust of wind roared past.
Other attractions that caught the crowd’s fancy was the stunts performed by the ‘Ghost Ryders’, a leading Indian motorcycling stunt group.
However, the Renault drift show featuring the new Renault Koleos SUV fell a bit flat. But since the Formula One car made one run more than scheduled, the relative disappointment was made up for.
Up next for India is the real deal on the weekend of October 28 to 30 as the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida hosts the 17th round of this year’s Formula One World Championship.
