State-run power utility NTPC and National Power Training Institute on Tuesday signed a agreement for running a training institute being set up at Solapur in Maharashtra.

The Solapur Institute would meet the requirement of skilled workforce in the industries and power sector by developing and enhancing the technical skills of the local youth living in the vicinity of upcoming NTPC project at Solapur, an NTPC release in said.
As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), NTPC would set up the institute and the National Power Training Institute (NPTI) would run it.
NTPC would also be supporting NTPI in meeting the gap between revenue earning and the operational expenditure for initial period of two years from the date, the institute starts functioning.
Under the agreement, the institute would also provide an opportunity to the existing employees from power sector and other industries to upgrade their skills.
